Ministers present report cards at UPA-Left meet

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The high-profile meeting of the UPA and the Left Coordination Committee began here today with the Union Ministers giving their repord cards on the completion of two years of the government.

The meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was attended by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh and representatives of UPA constituents, was inconclusive.

After three hours of discussions at the Prime Minister's 7 Race Course residence, Minister of State in the PMO, Prithviraj Chavan told reporters that as many as six Ministers presented their report cards at the breakfast meeting.

Mr Chavan said the Ministers who submitted the reports were Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.

Other Ministers will be presenting their report cards this evening, he added.

Among the Left leaders present were CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat, CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan, Forward Bloc's Abani Roy, CPI (M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury and CPI National Secretary D Raja.

''The meeting did not discuss any policy issues. We sought some clarifications from the Prime Minister on various issues,'' Mr Bardhan told UNI.
