LAW-KERALA-ICE CREAM CASE

Kochi, May 23: A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court today dismissed a writ petition seeking further investigation into the sensational ice cream parlour case by the CBI.

Dismissing the petition filed by Jameela Mankave, former treasurer of women's organisation called Anweshi, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice Kurian Joseph said that the allegations were without merits.

Petitioner submitted that there were materials to implicate former minister and Indian Union Muslim League leader P K Kunhalikutty as an accused in the case.

She alleged that the affidavit filed by then IG(prosecutions) Sekharan Miniyodan and Additional DGP Jacob Punnose before the Supreme Court exhonerating Mr Kunhalikutty did not go to the root of the case.

Rejecting this argument, court opined that there were no materials on record to show that the officers in charge of investigations shown any favour to Mr Kunhalikutty.
