Haryana to announce media policy
Chandigarh, May 23 (UNI) The Haryana government will shortly announce a media policy to accord special facilities to the journalists working in both print and electronic media, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said today.
A draft policy had been prepared and a decision would be taken in this regard on June seven, he said while speaking at the annual convention of the Chandigarh-Punjab Union of Jounalists.
The Chief Minister claimed that Haryana would be the first state in the country to announce a separate media policy for the welfare of the press persons.
He said the policy would take into account the several problems faced by the fourth estate.
Mr Hooda exhorted media persons to practice constructive and unbiased journalism and not indulge in distortion of facts to suit their own interests.
He said investigative journalism had become a casualty in the fierce competition in the electronic media to be first with the news. ''The journalists these days hardly have time needed to go into the depth of a matter.'' MORE UNI MA PG RS1751
