Congress sets one month deadline on book crisis in Jharkhand

Ranchi, May 23 (UNI) The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee today gave the state government one month's time to solve the books crisis in schools and warned of resorting to agitation if it failed to do so.

JPCC president Pradip Kumar Balmuchu expressed concern over the inavailibility of books in schools, stating the state government should come out with alternative arrangement to meet the crisis.

Mr Balmuchu said the state government made CBSE compulsory and introduced NCERT syllabus, adding that the demand of NCERT books in Jharkhand is highest in the country.

He said that the students community were worried over the increasing cost of NCERT books.

Mr Balmuchu also stressed on the infrastructure in schools and the need for timely release of scholarship for poor students.
