Cong and LJP alleges failure of Nitish govt on all fronts

Patna, May 23 (UNI) Congress and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today criticised the Nitish Kumar government for failing to fulfill its promise of good governance and check criminal activities in Bihar.

Chief spokesman of the state Congress Prem Chandra Mishra said the NDA had claimed that it would check crime during the Assembly elections but even after the completion of six months, there was no improvement in law and order situation and the state had witnessed a spurt in violence during recent weeks.

Mr Mishra said the state government failed to provide jobs to one lakh youths every year as promised and challenged the government to release the list of beneficiaries who had been given jobs during the said period.

The Congress leader alleged that the government could not check the migration of labourers which continued unabated.

No serious effort was made by the state government to revive the sick industries in Bihar and sugar industries of the state was still a neglected despite the tall claims, he added.

''Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi had spent too much time in furnishing the official residence and chambers,'' Mr Mishra alleged.

Talking to mediapersons, spokesman of the LJP Sanjay Singh said that vilolent incidents had marred the spirit of Panchayat elections, adding many innocent lives had been lost even as seven phases of the panchayat elections were still to be held.

Mr Singh said his party would launch state wide agitation from August 06.

''Nitish government is only making tall claims about the welfare of the minorities but is doing nothing at the ground level to improve their lot'', he said.
