Chinese company to set up auto plant in West Bengal

Kolkata, May 23 (UNI) Yong Tong Company, the largest bus-body manufacturing unit in China, will visit Kharagpur today to scout for land to set up a plant in West Bengal.

State secretary for Industries and Commerce Sabyasachi Sen said here, ''The company has already sent a fact finding team and the Chinese experts have studied investment prospects in the state.'' Yong Tong representatives called on state Industry and Commerce Minister Nirupam Sen yesterday and expressed their interest to invest in the state.

Mr Sen said, ''We have told the company representatives that we are interested in this project.'' The minister has also asked the Chinese company to submit a detailed project report.

The Chinese bus-body manufacturer has also tied up with Tata, would be manufacturing Tata CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) chasis.

The company is looking for land in Jamshedpur for the project.
