Bank manager sentenced in corruption case
Patna, May 23 (UNI) A special court ere today awarded four years of rigorous imprisonment each to two persons, including a former manager of a nationalised bank.
The court of special CBI judge Ramanand Sharma also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on both.
The designated judge found the manager of Maheshkhunt branch of State Bank of India in Khagaria district Suryanarayan Jha (since retired) and a supplier of agricultural equipment Anand Kumar Thakur guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to the charges, both the convicts caused wrongful loss to the bank to the tune of Rs five lakhs by issuing loans to non-existent farmers in 1981.
