Tarigami calls for end to violence, seeks peace

Srinagar, May 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Targami today said the time had come for an end to violence in the region and for peace to be given a chance.

''Those, who for vested interests do not appreciate the change, should know that the Kashmiri society is now against protracting status quo and those, who, notwithstanding the fact, want to prolong turmoil, are adversaries of the people and will be soon isolated,'' he said in a statement here.

Mr Targami said the state was confronted with both political and economic distress and the political leadership would have to work jointly for creating opportunities for development and conflict resolution.

The CPI(M) state secretary reiterated that the peace process should be made broad-based and inclusive for durable peace in the region and called for working towards an ''out of the box'' solution to the Kashmir problem.
