Quake hits off Indonesian island of Sulawesi
Washington, May 19: An earthquake registering 6.1 hit in the Molucca Sea near Indonesia but officials expected no major repercussions, an official at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center today said.
The quake struck at 10:44 pm Saturday local time (2014IST) but was not strong enough to require a tsunami warning, said Dailin Wang of the warning center in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
Wang said the epicenter of the quake was about 125 miles (200km) off the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
