Married woman's hands and feet chopped off by in-laws

Hardwar, May 20 (UNI) A married woman's hand and feet were chopped off by her in-laws who threw her on the railway tracks to make it appear a case of death caused by a train accident.

However, some persons helped her and admitted her to a Roorkee civil hospital in a state of unconsciousness, sources said.

Usha, a resident of Jhabredi, was married to Manoj three years ago. Her husband and in-laws had reportedly been harassing her, demanding dowry, sometimes a scooter, sometimes a refrigerator and sometimes cash. As their demands could not be fulfilled, they chopped off her hands and feet.

Police have registered a case under sections 307 an 326 of the IPC and section 3 of the Dowry Act against six people, including the husband, police sources added.
