Maoists derail goods train

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, May 20 (UNI) The engine of Vishakhapatnam-bound goods train carrying iron ore derailed after suspected Maoists removed fish-plates near Bhansi station in Dantewada district on the Kirandul-Vishakhapatnam section of South Eastern Railway last night.

The iron ore was loaded from Bailadila in Chhattisgarh.

Railway sources said movement of passenger and goods trains on the route remained suspended today following the derailment.

The Maoists also disrupted traffic by putting tree trunks on the signal lines as a result of which the relief train could not be sent to the spot, the sources added.
