Srinagar, May 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has banned the use of polythene bags in and around Dal Lake and all tourist places in the Valley.

A division bench directed the state government to impose a ban on the polythene bags in and around the world famous Dal lake and all the tourist places with immediate effect.

Chief Justice Bashir Ahmad Khan passed the orders after hearing the arguments of the lawyers.

The Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) had banned the use of polythene bags in and around the Dal Lake last year.
