DLF plans Rs 3,000 cr investment in Bengal
Kolkata, May 20 (UNI) A day after Tata group chairman Ratan Tata and Videocon's Venugopal Dhoot promised a total investment of Rs 2150 crore in Bengal, DLF said it plans to invest Rs 3,000 crore in the state.
"We are encouraged by the state government and we are looking forward to investing Rs 3,000 crore in the state," DLF vice-chairman Rajiv Singh, who was in the city to attend the swearing-in function of the seventh Left Front government, told reporters.
The company is keen to invest in infrastructure development, residential and commercial projects, IT infrastructure, special economic zone and the retail sector in the state, Singh said.
However housing remains a priority for the company and DLF wants to put its stamp in the state by doing something in the lines of what it has done in Gurgaon, he said.
According to industry department sources, DLF is already working on setting up an IT park at Rajarhat and plans to work for a second IT park also in Rajarhat.
Besides, DLF has acquired three acres to build a shopping mall at Rajarhat.
The Rajarhat Shopping mall will be a hypermarket and also house a cineplex. The company plans to introduce its own brand of D T Cinemas for the cineplex, Singh said.
