Chances brightened to float third front: Bangarappa
Mysore, May 20 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Samajawadi Party State President S Bangarappa today said said the political situation in the country offered bright scope for floating a third front as an alternative to the United Progressive Alliance and the National Democratic Alliance.
He told newsmen here that the recent Assembly elections in five statess had indicated that the base of the congress wa eroding and particularly the left parties which supports the UPA government at the national level, had emerged victories in West Bengal and Kerala.
The whole scenario of the country would change and present UPA government would face problems in coming days he claimed.
The proposed oil pool deficit issue was a great threat to the government and left parties would not support hike in petrol prices, and other issues including FDI investments and labour oriented issues like hike of the EFF funds.
All these factors would help in forming the third front in the country and which was imminent to avoid mid-term polls.
Referring the OBC reservation issue at the central level, Mr Bangarappa said his party was in favour of the reservation, however, at the same time the merit students should also get the justice and government should increase the number of seats in the Higher education.
On functioning of the JD(S) and BJP coalition government in the state, Mr Bangarappa said the government had just completed one hundred days with full of assurances and some more time has to be given for their programmes implementations.
He said his party would organise a divisional level meetings in September to strengthen the party from the grassrout level. His party would not contest for the coming teachers and graduates constituences elections, however, the party would contest alone in the coming Corporation, Municipal and other local body elections, he added.
