UPA jeoparadising nation's security: BJP Chief
Mangalore, May 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Rajnath Singh today charged the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre with having jeoparadised the nation's internal security by taking a soft stand towards the Maoists of Nepal, terrorists of Bangladesh and naxalites of India, yielding to the pressure from the Left parties.
Addressing a press conference after inaugurating the new office building of the party's district unit here, he alleged that the anti-social elements from these three countries had entered into an alliance with Pakistan's ISI to destabilise India's internal security.
He claimed that the terrorists attack in Varanasi, Bangalore and Dora in Jammu and Kashmir were direct results of the soft treatment shown by the Centre towards these forces following pressure from its coalition partners, the Left parties, particularly the CPI (M).
Mr Singh accused the Left parties of playing the 'communal' card in a dangerous manner. For the first time in the history of India, international issues had been made local issues in state elections by the Left parties.
The Left parties' double standards had been clearly exposed when it supported US President George Bush's visit to India as a ruling coalition partner and criticised it during state elections, he pointed out.
