Two killed, 9 hurt by criminals

Rewa, May 19 (UNI) Two persons were killed, nine severely injured and material worth thousands of rupees looted by unidentified criminals during separate nocturnal incidents in this district, police said today.

More than half-a-dozen masked dacoits marauded Nandlal Yadav's house at Khurtala village, about 55 km from here. Residents, including women, were physically assaulted and eight persons grievously hurt. Jewellery, cash and other material was looted. The victims were admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

Two headless corpses were found near a canal adjoining Kohni village. Unidentified persons beat up and looted Kohni-resident Santosh Tiwari while he was returning from here and he had to be hospitalised at Rewa.

Police suspect that the same gang was behind the crimes.

Inspector-General of Police Yogesh Mudral and Additional Superintendent Rakesh Jain left for the area.
