Trinamool wins Bhatpara seat

Kolkata, May 19 (UNI) Trinamool Congress candidate Arjun Singh was declared elected from the Bhatpara Assembly seat in North 24 Parganas defeating his nearest rival Harimohan Nath of CPI(M) by 28,676 votes.

Polls to the Bhatpara seat had been countermanded following the death of the BSP leader Sefali Sarkar and took place on May 16.

The victory for Trinamool Congress gives them 30 seats in the assembly, while the Left Front remain on 235 seats.
