Touch screen kiosks at 4 more Kerala Rly stations
Kochi, May 19 (UNI) Continuing with its modernisation drive in providing passenger amenities, the Southern Railways commissioned 'touch screen information kiosks at four more railway stations in the Trivandrum division.
The service was introduced at the Cherthala, Ambalpuzha,Thiruvalla and Mavelikkara stations yesterday, taking to 16 the total number of railway stations with this facility.
''We have covered almost all the major stations where express trains have a halt,'' Mr N Ramachandran,'' Assistant Divisional Engineer (Signals and Telecom) said here today.
The 24-hour service provides information on seat availability, PNR status, railway time-table, ticket fare and facilities available at each station.
It also provides a 'spot your train' facility, whereby passengers can get information on where the train, that they are intending to travel, was at the moment.
The touch screen information kiosks at Cherthala, Ambalapuzha, Thiruvalla and Mavelikkara were commissioned by Mr Sanal Kumar, Senior Divisional Engineer (Signal and Telecom).
