The All India CPI for Agricultural and Rural labourers increase
Shimla, May 19 (UNI) The All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) numbers for Agricultural Labourers (AL) and Rural Labourers (RL) (base 1986-87=100) for April this fiscal increased by two points each to stand at 360 and 362 points respectively, as compared to March, Labour Bureau sources said.
The rise and fall in indices varied from state to state.
The indices in respect of 19 states for Agricultural Labourers reflected an increase ranging from one point to eight points, while decreasing in one state.
Meghalaya and Punjab with 389 points each topped the index table, whereas Orissa was at the bottom with 331 points.
In case of Rural Labourers, the indices reflected an increase of one to eight points, while decreasing by four points in one state.
Punjab was at the top of the table with 392 points, whereas Orissa was at the bottom with 332 points.
Madhya Pradesh and Manipur experienced the sharpest increase of eight points each due to increase in the prices of rice, jowar, maize, arhar dal, gram dal, urd dal, milk, fresh fish, dry fish, dry chillies, vegetable and fruits and plastic shoes.
Uttar Pradesh, on the other hand, in respect of both the series recorded a maximum decrease of four points each due to a decrease in the prices of wheat, wheat atta, fresh fish and firewood.
Point-to-point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL increased from 5.29 per cent to 5.47 per cent, while decreasing from 5.26 per cent to 5.23 per cent for CPI-RL.
The respective rate of inflation for the corresponding period last year were 3.02 per cent and 2.99 per cent, the sources said.
