Summer showers bring cheer to delta farmers

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, May 19 (UNI) The summer rainfall in the Cauvery Delta districts of Thanjvaur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam have brought cheer to the farmers who can look to increased yields from their crops.

According to PWD sources here today, Kodaivasal recorded a rainfall of 78 mm followed by Sirkali (33 mm), Needamangalam (26 mm), Nagapattinam (25 mm), Tiruvarur (23 mm) and Thanjavur (20 mm).

Paddy, sugarcane, oil seeds and cotton crops stand to benefit from the summer showers.
