Strike cripples health services

Bhopal, May 19(UNI) Health services in all hospitals attached to five medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh remained crippled today also due to the strike by junior doctors and students even as the anti-reservationists planned to take out a ''Maharally'' in the state capital tomorrow.

The rally to be taken out from the medical college premises will conclude at Roshanpura square, MP Junior Doctors Association spokesman Amit Tyagi said.

Chemists, druggists, medical representatives, engineering students and those opposed to reservation will join the rally, Mr Tyagi added.

Services in the medical college hospitals improved with the pro-reservationists joining duty at Jabalpur and elsewhere in the state, pro-reservationist Fight for Right Association President Dr Chandrashekhar claimed.

Striking medicos claimed parallel out-patient clinics were run at all medical colleges.

At Jabalpur, the doctors agitating against proposed OBC reservation in higher education institutions resorted to road blockade and raised slogans against the Centre and Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh. The doctors also decided to launch relay hunger strike tomorrow, JDA President Mayank Chansoria said.
