Steps taken to examine Wholesale Power Exchange at national level

New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today informed the Lok Sabha that initiatives have been taken to examine various issues related to the feasibility of a wholesale power exchange at national level and develop a Detailed Project Report for the same.

A core team with representatives from Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Power Trading Corporation of India Limited (PTCI) has been constituted to interact with Norway-based CRISIL and Nordpool Consulting, for preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), he said in a written reply, adding discussions with various stakeholds were on.

Mr Shinde said power exchange shall provide a common, transparent and neutral platform for promoting competition in short term trading of electricity at wholesale level.
