Showers bring down mercury in UP capital
Lucknow, May 19 (UNI) Light showers accompanied by velocity winds lashed the Uttar Pradesh capital this afternoon, bringing down the temperature to a comfortable level.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 38.8 degrees Celsius, which was one degree below normal.
UP meteorological office director R K Verma told UNI here that the western influence passing through UP had brought along rains and storm.
''The western influence is passing through the state towards the eastern region and it would last for a day,'' he informed.
Meanwhile, Jhansi recorded the maximum temperature in UP at 43 degrees, which was normal.
Light rainfall and thundershowers were also recorded at isolated places in Gorakhpur division. Weather remained dry in almost all other places.
Day temperature rose appreciably in Allahabad, Varanasi and Jhansi divisions.
In the next 24 hrs, rain/thundershowers accompanied by squall are forecast at a few places in all UP divisions.
