Public sector insurance employees demand better work conditions

New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) Thousands of public sector insurance employees held a demonstration in the national capital demanding better employment conditions and promotional evenues.

On the call of the general insurance employees all India association, thousands of class III and IV workers from the four public sector insurance companies held a 'dharna' yesterday outside Jeewan Bharati building in Connaught Place in Central Delhi, a statement said.

They employees were against imposition of unilateral management agenda, increasing working hours and snatching away the existing benefits of the employees alongwith the wage revision--compassionate appointments, half day casual leave facility, reduction in casual leaves and non-declaration of the promotion exercise for the years 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Veteran CPI Leader and MP Gurdas Dasgupta was prominent among those who addressed the protesters.
