Police register case against BJYM National President

Puri, May 19 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha national president Dharmendra Pradhan (MP) and other party workers were today booked under various sections of the IPC for attacking a police party and damaging public property here last night.

Police today said the BJP MP and his supporters who were part of a marriage procession turned violent when they were asked by the mobile police not to use loud speakers and burst crackers after 2200 hrs as directed by the Supreme Court.

The mob led, by the BJP leader, attacked the police party and damaged the vehicle. Police officer J.K.Samantray and other police personnel were injured when the mob pelted stones at them.

Soon after the incident, the mobile party alerted all the police stations and reinforcement rushed to rescue the colleagues from the mob. However, no one was arrested from the scene.

Police said the BJP MP and three others besides other members of the marriage party were booked under section 341, 186, 294 and 34 of the IPC. The police also framed charges against them under section 3 of the prevention of destruction of Public property.
