PAU expert chosen as emeritus scientist by ICAR
Ludhiana, May 19 (UNI) Punjab Agriculture University (PAU)'s horticulture department head Dr Yog Raj Chanana has been chosen as Emeritus scientists by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR),in recognition of his meritorious work done in the field of fruit crops.
As an Emeritus Scientist, he will work on the project entitled 'Standardisation of rootstocks for sub-tropical peach and plum', a PAU release today stated.
Dr Chanana has made significant contributions in genetic resource management of fruits, selection of several improved varities of peach, plum and papaya and also standardisation of their production technology. He has developed a complete package of practices for the production of high quality peaches.
For his outstanding contributions, he has been awarded Shri Hans Raj Pahawa Award, Shri G L Chadha Memorial Gold Medal and Gurcharan Singh Nihalsinghwala award. Dr Chanana is a fellow of Horticultural Society of India. He is associated with many academic and professional societies.
