Ordinance issued to exempt four more offices under profit
Panaji, May 19 (UNI) Four more offices held by the ruling Congress legislators have been exempted from the definition of the office-of- profit through an ordinance today.
The ordinance amending the Goa Members of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) Act, 2005, notified in an extraordinary gazette was released to the media today.
It exempted the office of the vice-chairman of the Kala Academy, chairman, vice-chairman and members of the Entertainment Society of Goa, chairmen of the State Urban Development Agency and the Goa Tillari Irrigation Development Corporation (GTIDC).
Last year's act exempted the office of the chairman of Kala Academy, held by Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane till date.
Earlier, two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators -- party president Rajendra Arlekar and former agriculture minister Dayanand Mandrekar -- were disqualified for holding the office of profit before the legislation came into existance.
