No threat to Arjun Munda govt in Jharkhand: Sumitra Mahajan
New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) BJP Vice-President and party Incharge of Jharkhand Sumitra Mahajan today ruled out any threat to Arjun Munda Government in Jharkhand following the resignation of former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi from the party.
On her return from Ranchi where she was sent by the party leadership to assess the situation, Mrs Mahajan told UNI that she discussed the situation arisen out of Mr Marandi's resignation with Chief Minister Munda and party state organisational secretary Hridyanath Singh. Later she also held discussions with senior party office-bearers in the state and party legislators.
After parleys with them she was convinced that there was no danger to the Munda government, she said. Mrs Mahajan would be submitting her report on the matter to party President Rajnath Singh and National General Secretary (Organisation) Sanjay Joshi either tonight or tomorrow.
She said since senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislator Stephen Marandi had resigned from the UPA and joined Mr Babulal Marandi's Jharkhand Vikas Manch there was no immediate threat to the BJP government in the state.
Mrs Mahajan said there was a possibility that former External Affairs Minister Yashwant Singh and Mr Devdas Apte, MP, would meet Mr Marandi late tonight to persuade him to retract his decision.
