MP to get additional 1000 MW next year
Bhopal, May 19 : Madhya Pradesh, presently reeling under severe power crisis with 1500 MW gap in demand and supply, will have an additional generation capacity of 1,000 MW next year, official sources said here today.
Besides the state's additional share of 277 MW from Centre and 139 MW from Sardar Sarovar project, the ongoing Madikheda (60 MW), Bansagar (20MW) and Birsinghpur (500 MW) projects would be completed in 2007-08.
In 2008-09, Amarkantak (210 MW) and Omkareshwar 1st unit (260 MW) would become operational, while the supply from Centre to the state would touch 768 MW.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who reviewed the power supply arrangements at a high-level meeting here yesterday, directed the power plants of 1040 MW capacity under construction to operative on schedule in next two years.
As part of energy saving measures, use of high mast lights, vapour lamps and neon lights in urban areas would be regulated.
