MCX index closes down at 2,327.87, 2.46 pts

Mumbai, May 19 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 3,057.30 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2,327.87 down by 2.46 points (-0.11 per cent). The total trades registered were 41,630.

The MCX metal index closed at 2,681.45 down by 48.31 points (-1.80 per cent), while MCX energy index closed at 2,653.59 up by 26.14 points (0.99 per cent) and MCX agri index closed at 1,648.57 up by 14.79 (0.90 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 2,387.51 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 1,586.92 crore and MCX silver Rs 800.59 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 26,530. The open interest for gold was 12,069 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 3,62,990 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 279.26 crore with 5,397 trades, while MCX aluminium recorded a turnover of Rs 21.98 crore with 669 trades MCX zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 52.31 crore with 662 trades, respectively.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 70.98 crore with open interest of 5,43,600 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows - urad registered a turnover of Rs 11.64 crore with 166 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 37.29 crore with 866 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 28.77 crore with 1,036 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 36.44 crore with 1,772 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 10,131 down by Rs 52 (-0.51 per cent), while Aug closed at Rs 10,312 down by Rs 78 (-0.76 per cent) and October closed at Rs 10,514 down by Rs 172 (-1.64 per cent).

MCX Silver July 06 closed at Rs 19,524 down by Rs 248 (-1.27 per cent), Sept closed at Rs 20,264 down by Rs 348 (-1.72 per cent), Dec closed at Rs 21,307 down by Rs 451 (-2.12 per cent).
