Lioness dies in Visakhapatnam Indira Gandhi Zoological Park

Visakhapatnam, May 19: Sona, a 23-year-old lioness at Indira Gandhi Zoological Park here, died last night, Zoo officials today said.

Zoo Curator B Vijayakumar said Sona was brought from Ajanata Circus. The average life span of a lion is 18 years.

Mr Vijayakumar said the present strength of felines in the zoo was 56, including 44 lions and 12 tigers.
