Legal training workshop on female infanticide tomorrow
Allahabad, May 19 (UNI) In backdrop of alarming female infanticide situation and dismal position in implementation of Pre-conception and Pre-natal (Prohibition of sex selection) Act 1994, a state-level legal training workshop of advocates and social activists is being held here tomorrow.
The twin objects of the one-day workshop is strict compliance of law the and social transformation.
It will be inagurated by Justice Sunil Ambwani of Allahabad High Court and presided over by Justice (retd) R B Mehrotra. Allahabad University (AU) vice chancellor R G Harshe and poet Neelabh will be the special guests.
On the initiative of Human Rights Law Network, Uttar Pradesh, the event is being organised by AU Women committee, High Court Bar Association, Stree Adhikar Sangthanm, Sahyog and Chetna.
Talking to newsmen here today, workshop organiser K K Rai said in spite of all preventive and penal provisions, illegal diagnosis of the unborn baby had become a regular source of fetching money for many hospitals, nursing homes and doctors.
