Left to concentrate on other states: Biman
Agartala, May 19 (UNI) The Left Parties will concentrate more on farmers and workers of other states after their resounding victories in West Bengal and Kerala, said CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and West Bengal Left Front Chairman Biman Bose.
'' We have been working in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand and Asom and getting some results in these states, '' Mr Bose, who was here to address a tribal rally, told reporters.
'' But we have to concentrate more on these states, specially in those areas where farmers and workers are committing suicides, selling kidneys and children and fighting for irrigation water. We are chalking out working strategy at the national level for concentrating in different parts of the country, except West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura where we are traditionally strong, '' Mr Bose pointed out.
He referred to the movement of the farmers in Rajasthan for irrigation water and said the Left Parties would have to increase their mobility in different parts of the country where farmers and workers had been suffering and fighting for their rights.
To a question on West Bengal, Mr Bose, also the Secretary of his party's state unit, said the huge victory had increased the responsibility of the Left Front, which would have to work more vigorously for further strengthening the agricultural and industrial bases.
'' We have to give more emphasis on organic farming, crops diversification, horticulture and other agro-based industries as well as food processing, automobile, petro-chemical, fertilizer, textiles and core sector industries with the purpose of generating more employment and increasing the income of the common people, '' he observed.
To another question, he said his party would look into the causes of defeat in the Assembly election to the Bhatpara seat. '' I have also asked for a report from North Dinajpur regarding a couple of incidents of attack on party offices, '' he added.
