Korean Park Chu among six Asian in FIFA's fantastic 40

Kolkata, May 19 (UNI) Former AFC Young Player of the Year Park Chu-young of Korea Republic leads the list of six young guns from Asia among the 40 contenders chosen for the Best Young Player award in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Germany.

The Best Young Player award was instituted to recognise the contribution made by young footballers in their first appearance in a World Cup.

Also in the shortlist are Ji Hoon-Baek, Jin Kyu-Kim (both Korea Republic), Hossein Kaabi (Iran), Mohamed Al Anbar (Saudi Arabia) and Mark Milligan (Australia).

For the first time in a FIFA competition, football fans will have a say on who should be presented the award through a voting process, a FIFA release from Zurich stated.

The fans' top three choices will then be added to three more chosen by FIFA's Technical Study Group (TSG) to create a shortlist of six. The eventual winner will be chosen by the TSG.
