Srinagar, May 19 (UNI) The government has carried out an amendment to Section 30 and schedule 1 of the Jammu and Kashmir Stamps Act 1977 making it obligatory for any person receiving amount exceeding Rs 40 in money, bill, cheque or promissory note to give a receipt duly stamped for Rs two.

According to a circular issued by the Commissioner of Stamps, Jammu and Kashmir, all the drawing and disturbing officers and those releasing an amount exceeding Rs 40 have been asked to obtain a receipt affixed with a revenue stamp worth Rs two.

The stamp duty receipt is also mandatory for employees receiving their pay through banks, it added.
