IIM students support medicos' agitation
Kolkata, May 19 (UNI) Students of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Joka, extended solidarity with the agitating junior doctors in West Bengal as the cease work in five medical colleges continued for the fifth day today.
In a new development, students of IIM, Joka, today announced that they would participate in a statewide strike on May 25 in support of the ongoing agitation against increase in reservation for OBC in higher medical institutions.
Earlier, students of Jadavpur University, Shibpur Engineering College, Presidency College and Lady Brabourne College had also expressed solidarity with the striking doctors.
Meanwhile, students of the city's R Ahmed Dental College and Hospital also joined the strike, while junior doctors from all medical colleges continued the relay hunger strike for the second day.
Outdoor service to patients remained disrupted in most of the state-run hospitals with a handful of senior doctors haning to the situation in the absence of the juniors.
