Minister appeals to employees to work sincerely
Imphal, May 19 : Manipur Health Minister DK Korunthang has appealed to the government employees specially those in the medical line to work with a sense of dedication.
He further appealed to the employees not to think of their salaries only.
Inaugurating the office building of a primary health sub-center at Kwatha at Chandel district an interior village at the Manipur Myanmar border areas yesterday the minister said the new center will be manned by a nurse and a laboratory assistant.
He, however, said the government will try to send a doctor to the center soon.
The villagers never saw any health center earlier until a philanthropist decided to construct a health center on his own in 1999 at the village which was later upgraded by the state health department.
The entire village has just one junior high school and a single teacher teaches students from Class I to VIII in this village. The villagers urged the minister to send more teachers in the interest of the students. The minister assured to look into the matter.
The villagers further appealed to remove the Assam Rifles post in the village as there was frequent encounter with militants and the villagers had to flee to neighbouring Myanmar for safety.
Norbert Disinang, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district, who was also present appealed to the villagers not to hesitate in approaching the district administration for help.
He also took the list of the homeless people of the villagers and assured to put up the matter with higher authorities. The villagers also demanded proper roads to connect the village to the main highway.
