Haryana to implement National Rural Health Mission:Hooda

Kaithal , May 19 (UNI) A sum of Rs 749 crore would be spent in Haryana on the implementation of the National Rural Health Mission upto the year 2010 so as to reduce the infant mortality rate in the state.

This was stated by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while addressing a Nav Nirman Rally organised by the President of the All India Khet Mazdoor Congress and local MLA, Shamsher Singh Surjewala here today.

Mr Hooda said that emphasis has been laid on improving the health services and a number of innovative schemes were being implemented.

He sought the whole-hearted cooperation of the people in making Haryana number one state in the field of development and said that his government was aiming to improve the quality of life of the people.

Health Minister Kartar Devi said that the government had implemented an ambitious scheme under which 3000 students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, who secure 60 per cent marks in matriculation would be given Rs 1000 per month She said that education and health were among the thrust areas of the government.

Congress MP Mr Navin Jindal said that the Chief Minister had laid the foundation stones of projects costing more than Rs 100 crore in the district, thus opening new avenues of development. He announced to open a school named after former Haryana Minister,the late Mr O P Jindal provided the government gives land for the same.

Transport Minster Randeep Singh Surjewala said that Kaithal district was ignored during last nine years but the present government has laid focus on its development.

Mr Shamsher Singh Surjewala urged that the rate of interest on cooperative loans should be reduced and a law should be enacted to check exploitation of the people by private money lenders.
