Haryana to expand irrigation network: Hooda
Kaithal, May 19 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said Rs 377 crore has been earmarked for expansion of irrigation facilities during the current financial year and for taking effective steps to ensure equitable distribution of water in the state.
This was stated by Mr Hooda after laying the foundation stone of Shergarh-Guhna-Link Canal at village Franswala near here. The canal would be constructed at a cost of Rs 15.75 crore.
He said the government has also formulated an ambitious plan of Rs 1608 crore under Bharat Nirman Yojna to provide irrigation facilities for 3.43 lakh hectares of land within next four years.
Mr Hooda said efforts were on to store and harness rainwater.
He said Dadupur-Shahbad-Nalvi canal was also being constructed at a cost of Rs 267 crore and with its completion 46,250 hectares of land in Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra districts would be provided with irrigation facilities.
He also laid the foundation stone of a sewerage plant of 10 MLD capacity at village Franswala, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 42.15 crore. It would provide water for irrigation purpose and help in keeping the environment free from pollution.
Mr Hooda also laid the foundation stone of a Super Speciality Hospital. This 100 bed hospital would have all ultra-modern facilities and residents of Kaithal and adjoining areas would get modern health services. This hospital would be constructed at a cost of Rs eight crore over an area of 15 acres.
He also laid the foundation stone of a railway over-bridge to be constructed on Kaithal-Jind road at a cost of Rs 19.50 crore.
