Gulmarg to be ''Indian Davos'': Azad

Srinagar, May 19 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today announced its decision to convert the world famous tourist resort of Gulmarg into an ''Indian Davos'' by the year-end.

''In this most beautiful part of the world, I am going to start an Indian Davos at Gulmarg in December,'' Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad told an Executive Committee meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) here.

He said the Indian and international industry leaders would be provided with a platform to interact and do business, not necessarily with Jammu and Kashmir.

''I am sure that the spin offs from such a gathering will be immense. I look forward to your participation there,'' Mr Azad added.

The Chief Minister said his government would also hold a two-day ''Invest Jammu and Kashmir Summit'' in Mumbai sometime in August.

''In that summit, we will showcase our achievements our strengths and list the opportunities for investments,'' he added.

Mr Azad said the summit will provide an opportunity to network with the industry leaders of the country and foreign investors.

While inviting the industry leaders, the Chief Minister assured them of complete protection.

FICCI Secretary General Amit Mitra said the federation would support the initiative of starting ''Indian Davos'' in Gulmarg, the summit focussing on investment in Kashmir.
