Govt to supply 24 hour single phase power

Hyderabad, May 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Energy, Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today said 24 hour single phase power would be supplied in the state at the earliest.

Addressing the press here, Mr Shabbir said the government had ordered the State Eletricity Department to submit tomorrow the report of power demand and required power supply.

Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy would take a decision on 24 hour power supply after meeting power distribution companies and officials on May 22.

Stating that the Centre had approved supply of 2.5 million tonne of coal to the proposed 500 MW Kothagudeam stage-6 thermal power project on May 21, he said the Centre would announce its decision on the supply of 7.5 million tonnes of coal to 1600 MW Krishnapatnam power project next month.

Coal would be supplied to these two power projects from Mahanadi Coal belt in Ranchi.

Mr Shabbir said the allocated power had been supplied without unscheduled power cut from May 16 in the state.
