Gadkari accuses DF govt of bringing disrepute to Maharashtra
Mumbai, May 19 (UNI) The Maharashtra BJP today accused the Congress led Democratic Front government of bringing disrepute to the progressive state and using its power to further its own self interests.
In a statement here, state unit chief Nitin Gadkari cited recent events where terrorists arrested by the ATS recently had allegedly stayed in the MLA hostel near Mantralaya and a senior minister and bureaucrat were in jail on charges of contempt of Supreme Court.
He charged that Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil were least concerned about such ''shameful'' incidents and were busy in politics of reshuffling their council of ministers.
Mr Gadkari said a senior bureaucrat (Ashok Khot) had to be declared a ''proclaimed offender''. ''This was a serious incident but the Chief Minister chose to comment on the issue in humourous way,'' he alleged.
Referring to the recent arrest of terrorists and seizure of huge cache of explosives and weapons, the BJP leader expressed concern that terror network had spread into interiors of the state including towns like Aurangabad and Malegaon.
''The arrests prove that there is a very serious conspiracy of Pakistan sponsored Jehadi groups who have become active to destroy the country. But, it is shameful that the arrested terrorists could make their way inside MLA hostel near Mantralaya'', he charged.
When the state was facing such a tough situation, the government is planning a reshuffle. ''The DF has always misused its power to further its own self interests rather than work for the welfare of the state and its people'', Mr Gadkari alleged.
