Five languages used in swearing in Asom ministry

Guwahati, May 19 (UNI) The oath taking ceremony of the Congress-led coalition ministry in Asom today witnessed the use of Bodo, Hindi Bengali and English besides the Asomese.

While Asomese remained the preferred medium for the majority, the other languages also featured prominently.

Of the 18 ministers sworn in, 12 took the oath of office and secrecy in Asomese.

The three ministers of the major coalition partner BPPF(H), Mrs Promila Rani Brahma, Mr Chandan Brahma and Mr Rihon Daimary, took their oaths in Bodo.

While Mr Gautam Roy stuck to his mother tongue Bengali, Mr Dinesh Prasad Goala took the oath in Hindi and Mr Kharsing Ingti in English.
