Delhi Police SI arrested for accepting bribe send to jail

New Delhi, May 18 (UNI) A Delhi Police sub-inspector arrested by the CBI on bribery charges was today sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Special CBI judge B S Mathur sent Sub-Inspector Hawa Singh to jail for 14 days.

Sub-inspector Hawa Singh, posted at Roop Nagar police station in North Delhi, was arrested yesterday while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a Kamla Nagar-resident for alleged letting him off from a case.

The accused had threatened to arrest the complainant and his family in connection with a case registered against him on 'false' complaint filed by his neighbour, unless he paid him (the policeman) a bribe.
