Court records statements of Dhaula Kuan gangrape victim
New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) A city court today recorded the statements of the alleged Dhaula Kuan gangrape victim.
Appearing before the Patiala House Court, Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) K C Lohia, the victim recorded her statement in the court. She deposed that ''Ajit Katiyar was the man who had allegedly raped her in the car,'' which gave a major boost to the prosecution side.
The matter has been posted for June 19 for the next hearing.
Earlier on April 27, the court issued a bailable warrant (BW) against the victim, for failing to appear in the court despite various summons.
Katiyar, was one of the four men who had allegedly kidnapped the 22-year-old Delhi University student from Dhaula Kuan on May 7 last year and raped her in a moving car. He was later arrested the same year on May 21.
The victim had earlier identified Katiyar as the prime accused in the Test of Identification Parade (TIP) in Tihar jail premises here last year.
According to the police, Katiyar is a hardcore criminal and was previously involved in more than nine cases of attempt to murder, motor vehicle theft and arms act. During the police custody, the accused always misled the police investigating team and changed his version frequently.
