Cong keen on joining Ministry in TN
Chennai, May 19 (UNI) The Congress, a key ally of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) expressed the desire to join the DMK-led government in Tamil Nadu.
The matter is expected to be sorted out when DMK chief M Karunanidhi meets AICC chief Sonia Gandhi in Delhi next week.
AICC special invitee Veerappa Moily, in charge of party affairs in the state, said today that soon after it was clear the people had given a mandate to the DPA, partymen across the state contacted him and expressed the view that the Congress should join the government.
In an informal chat with presspersons after Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting at TNCC headquarters Sathyamurthy Bhavan here, he said, being in charge of party affairs, he conveyed the sentiments of partymen to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and also to DMK president M Karunanidhi.
Mr Moily said when Mr Karunanidhi will visit Delhi, probably next week, he would meet Ms Gandhi and the two leaders were expected to discuss the matter and arrive at a conclusion.
He said the party's desire to take part in the Ministry had nothing to do with its unconditional support to the DMK government.
''Our support to the government is total and absolute and it is nothing do with the desire to join the government,'' he added.
