Come out with rehabilitation policy: Rupchand Pal
New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) Mr Rupchand Pal (CPI-M) today demanded in the Lok Sabha that the government come out with a comprehensive national rehabilitation and resettlement policy in the interest of tribals and other people displaced by various projects.
Raising the issue during zero hour, Mr Pal said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former PM V P Singh had also favoured such a policy in the wake of the Supreme Court order on the Sardar Sarovar Project.
AIIMS: Mr Basudeb Acharia (CPI-M) demanded the immediate withdrawal of user charges introduced in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences as the institute was getting Rs 360 crore from the central Budget, while the funds collected through such charges amounted to a mere Rs 60 lakh.
Supporting the demand, Mr Prabodh Panda (CPI) said AIIMS had failed to utilise about Rs 40 crore allocated to it and in view of this levy of user charges for upgrading facilities was unjust.
