Calcutta H C appoints four administrators to run M P Birla empire
Kolkata, May 19 (UNI) Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta of Calcutta High court today appointed four administrators to run the Rs 5000 crore M P Birla empire, responding to the appeal of the Birlas, locked in a legal battle with auditor R S Lodha.
Meanwhile, Mr Lodha filed an appeal before the court challenging the order.
Sources said an order in the case is awaited any moment.
The Birlas filed the petition seeking adminitrators to run the M P Birla empire now controlled by Mr Lodha.
The court heard the petitioners and Mr Lodha's consel for several weeks before the case came up for judgment.
The legal battle between the Birlas and Mr Lodha began after the latter disclosed that M P Birlas' widow Priyamvada had bequeathed the 5000 crore Birla empire to him by a will.
The Birlas oppposed the will before the court and moved a petition seeking appointment of administrators in running the affairs of the M P Birla empire till the case was settled.
