BHEL to set up a 500 MW power plant in Sudan

New Delhi, May 19: The public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a contract with National Electricity Corporation (NEC) of Sudan - a Sudan Government entity for the setting up of a 500 Mega Watts Power Plant at Kosti (white Nile State) in Sudan on a turnkey basis, the government informed the Lok Sabha today.

A 350 Million dollar line of credit has also been finalised for this project, Power Minister sushil Kumar Shinde said, in a written answer.

The EXIM Bank of India has signed two loan agreements with Government of Sudan on January 23 this year -- one for 350 Million dollars for setting up of the power plant and another 41 Million dollar for setting up of a transmission line, the minister added.
