Azad calls for safeguarding future of orphans

Srinagar, May 19 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has called upon all credible religious, social and other institutions to play vital role in patronising orphans and destitutes besides safeguarding their career and better future.

Mr Azad was interacting with a delegation of Sunni Markaz headed by Sheikh Abdul Hakim Azhari Kanthapuram here last evening.

Mr Azhari said he has already established a Shah-e-Hamdan Trust which would have orphanages of high quality at Bagh-i-Ali-Mardan Khan and Shah-i-Hamdan International School in the Valley.

The philanthropists across the world were ready to give liberal donation for such institutions.

''We should inculcate spirit of love and mutual brotherhood among new generation,'' Mr Azad stressed.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the devotion and dedication shown by the Sunni Markaz for grooming students, including destitutes and orphans.

Mr Azad said he had visited Kerala and seen the functioning of the Markaz and expressed the hope that its centre in Jammu and Kashmir will prove beneficial to the people.

The Chief Minister urged the Trust to rope in expert doctors to visit the Kashmir valley and help in providing free medicare to the patients on compassionate grounds as in other states.

Mr Azad said philanthropist and social organisations have great role in the society and should come forward in helping the needy and expressed happiness that the Markaz had adopted orphans of earthquake-hit areas in the state.
